Thankful

Growing up, the Thanksgiving weekend was the one of the busiest next to Christmas and Easter. Family dinners were always large, with 4 children, 2 adults and always some friends or other family members joining us it just felt so amazing to be surrounded by so much love and togetherness.

I love baking and cooking. There is the weird sense of pride I get when I cook knowing that I made that, . I get it from my parents to be honest.

This passed weekend we celebrated Thanksgiving here in Ontario, it was a typical fall day. Rain. Cold. Rain. Windy. Repeat.

There was a break in crummy weather, and we decided to pack up and go to the nearest Conservation Parks to go enjoy nature before it was too late. 25 mins later, the kiddo was a sleep in the car and neither hubs or I had the heart to wake her up to go outside into the cool air.

So, we hung out in the car, enjoyed what was the quick return of the rain and waited for her to wake up. Sleeping beauty awoke just when our tummies growled and we enjoyed a late lunch together as a family then headed home.

It was very fun to hang out as a family, it was her 2nd Thanksgiving, I am pretty sure this will be my more favourite holiday to celebrate. Its not too cold, not snowy and the color of nature is oh so beautiful.

How did you celebrate your long weekend? What interesting goodies did you make?

Keep Stitching!

  1. I get a sense of pride while cooking too and a joy knowing others enjoyed what I made. I'm an American living in Japan so no ling weekend for me. I have been knitting up a toy with the hopes that it will be cute enough to donate to a child in an orphanage in the Philippines. My church sends them gifts each year.

I've nominated you for a Liebster Award (I apologize if you've already been nominated before) over at my blog! http://craftymommaknits.blogspot.com/2012/11/what-lovely-surprise.html
